I have a new favorite bookstore! Barnes and Noble is awesome but After-Words simply took my breath away with its diverse selection of literature (over 70,000 books!) located in their big two-floor space at East Illinois Street. After Words is one of Chicago’s amazing pool of independent book shops that sell new and used books. My favorite spot is their cozy basement, take a look:
It was my first time there and I already got a couple of great buys. I was lucky to find used copies of Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood and NP by Banana Yoshimoto (both my favorite authors!) at a very low price.
After Words can also try to find rare books for you, even if they are out of print. You can send over your book requests or inquiries here. Their big space can also be rented out for special events such as lectures, book signings, and private parties. Indeed, After Words offers so much more than just selling books.
What’s more exciting is the unexpected stuff that happened later during dinner. (:
