Exhibition venue: Homiey Humboldt Park, Chicago IL
The Sea Eats the Land at Home is a poem written by Kofi Awoonor. It portrays the home as a place of belonging and security until the sea intrudes and violently dismantles it. The destruction of this sanctuary also mirrors the loss of ones identity, comfort, and safety. The cruel engulfing sea leaves behind displacement and grief, as it shatters a home.
The papercut collections “Ruminations” and “Cold Spots” were simultaneously launched at Homiey in Humboldt Park, Chicago. The show featured local artists Yang Pulongbarit Cuevo, Christopher Brown, Delicious Demon House, and Kaira Peyton.
