Paper Trails 2024

Exhibition venue: View Arts Center, Old Forge NY

Paper Trails references the trail-filled Adirondack home in Old Forge, New York as well as the paths that papercutting has followed from its origins to the United States. This juried exhibition included works of original designs created with scissors, craft knives, and/or sheep shears.

The Guild of American Papercutters was founded in 1988 and is headquartered in Somerset, PA, where it operates the National Museum of Papercutting. Its members, both national and international, range from beginner papercutters to professional, full-time artists and teachers.

Bulaos refers to the trail or narrow path that leads to another place. More specifically, it is the footpath made by animals on the way to a watering place in a forest. The word bears this meaning in the Bulakenyo dialect from the Philippines. The Philippines has 130-195 spoken languages and dialects, which is why some words may carry multiple meanings across regions. In the main Filipino language, bulaos also means roar
